Graphite Study: Orchid flower no. 1

"Cattleya Orchid No. 1", Graphite, 8"x10"

I'm not a big fan of most common flowers. However, I'm quite fascinated with orchid species. They're the most unique looking flowers in the world. Correct me if I'm wrong, I read that there are between 21k to 26k species of orchids found in 880 generas in the world and are rare in the United States. Should be an exciting experiment. Expect many new graphite drawings & paintings of unique orchids in the future.

This piece will be matted & framed for my art show this Fall.

Graphite Study: B-25 Mitchell bombers ~ "Air Apaches"

These studies are depicts of the famous bombers group, 345th BG, most widely used in the Pacific Theater than any other theaters during WW2. The group's nickname was the "Air Apaches" and has a "Chief" insignia on the tail. Their gunships were very famous for colorful nose arts. In within the 345th BG, there were four Bomber Squadrons known as 498th Bombardment Squadron, "Falcons"; 499th Bombardment Squadron, "Bats Outa Hell"; 500th Bombardment Squadron, "Rough Raiders", and 501st Bombardment Squadron, "Black Panthers". They flew the North American B-25 Mitchells. An excerpt from Wiki best described the B-25 Mitchell: "The North American B-25 Mitchell was an American twin-engined medium bomber manufactured by North American Aviation. It was used by many Allied air forces, in every theater of World War II, as well as many other air forces after the war ended, and saw service across four decades."
